The Pre-Consultation Call - 2 weeks prior to your photoshoot

The pre-consultation call is booked in as soon as you've confirmed a date and is where we just have a chat and I get to know you and your horse/dog/family or business a little better.  We discuss styling ideas and I go through the shoot process so any worries you may have can be discussed in detail, such as inclement weather, outfits to fidgety animals. It's a really informal chat which we can do via telephone or Zoom. It will take up to around 45 mins. So please don't fret about this call.  We'll go through a rough plan of action. For dog photoshoots we’ll chat about the essential photos that you’d love for me to capture and whether the dog(s) are on the leash or off and any action shots you may require. Yes some doggy clients want all the action and little posed and others prefer more natural portraits so I tend to do a mix of both utilising the backdrop around me from logs, woodland, water to brick walls etc. You get the gist!

  1. The Prep Bit

By now you will have received my welcome pack and style guide - (style guide is more applicable to equine photoshoots). The style guide simply gives ideas as to what to where and how to prep your horse and any tack you may be using. Shoot day is fast approaching and it's all getting exciting now. With dogs it’s more of a case of fitting in around their grooming sessions so they look their ultimate best. With rural family photoshoots, you just need to be yourself and wear something comfortable that reflects your personality - just avoid big logos.

  2. It’s Photoshoot Day

The day has arrived for your photoshoot - how exciting. I usually arrive around 5 minutes prior to your shoot time so I can say hello, (grab a cuddle with your horse) and we can then have a look around the location to scout some great backdrops for your photoshoot.  We will also have a look through the outfits you've chosen and select which ones we will use.  Yes - you can bring a whole rack of clothes to choose from if you're finding it hard to decide.  That's what I'm here for - I love this bit.  For dogs we just simply go off on an amazing adventure. For the horse shoot all you have to do is smile lovingly at your horse, keep them looking amazing while I create the shot.  Remember this is all about your amazing partnership with your horse, I'm here to guide you every step of the way. It is for many, a once in a lifetime experience and I just want you to relax and enjoy every moment. For business and family it’s all about being true to yourself with a little direction from me.

  3. Selection Process and Editing

This is the bit where I take all your precious images and make selections to create your stunning gallery of around 50+ images. Each image is then hand edited by me in my signature edit style.

  4. The Viewing Session - For Private Commissions

Once your images have been edited I will be in touch to arrange your own private viewing.  Seeing your images for the first time can get quite emotional. You will get to see a slideshow of your images before you start your selection process to choose your favourites.  Out of those favourites, you'll be able to choose the image for your framed print.  For all the other favourites, we can have a look at other wall art available (where you'll be spoilt for choice) and albums to create your own stunning collection of bespoke art that will look amazing in your home/office surroundings. Typically client’s tend to spend from £750.00-£2000.00 at their viewing session.

Equine & Dog Photography – FAQs

1. Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are typically held at your yard, a favourite walking spot, or another scenic location. I aim to create a comfortable environment where your horse or dog feels at ease.

2. How long does a session last?

I don’t put strict time limits on sessions, but they usually last around 1.5 to 2 hours. This allows plenty of time for your pet to settle and for us to capture a variety of natural, beautiful images.

3. What if my dog can’t be off-lead?

That’s absolutely fine! Many of the dogs I photograph stay on a lead, and I can remove it during the editing process for a natural look.

4. Can I be in the photos with my horse or dog?

Yes! Whether it’s a few candid moments or posed portraits, I encourage owners to be involved. However, if you’d prefer the focus to be solely on your pet, that’s absolutely fine too.

5. What should I wear?

For equine sessions, neutral or earthy tones work best and complement natural surroundings. Avoid bright neon colors and large logos. If you’d like to be in the photos, I recommend timeless, comfortable outfits that reflect your style.

6. What happens if the weather is bad?

If it’s heavy rain or extreme weather, we can reschedule at no extra cost. Overcast days can actually be great for photography, so we’ll only reschedule if absolutely necessary.

7. How do I book a session?

Simply get in touch via my website, email, or social media. We’ll discuss your ideas and find the perfect date and location. A session fee is required to secure your booking.

8. What do I get after the session?

After your session, I carefully edit your images, and you’ll be invited to a one-on-one viewing experience. You’ll have the opportunity to choose from beautiful wall art, prints, and other keepsakes to treasure your images forever.

9. Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! Gift vouchers are available and make a thoughtful present for any dog or horse lover.

10. How much does a session cost?

My pricing reflects a mid to high-end experience, including a tailored session, professional editing, and a personal viewing. Please get in touch for full pricing details.
