Annie & Olivia - Their Equine Photoshoot

Tucked away in the village of Scropton is a small but established livery yard that I never knew existed and where Olivia kept her horse Annie. Olivia's mum had purchased a gift certificate for Christmas for her daughter to have a photoshoot with her beautiful mare, Annie, after seeing a friend she knew of her and her horse that I'd photographed in the summer a year before.

We spoke about the session and the kind of photos Olivia wanted so we opted for the school holidays and early evening when the sun wasn't quite so harsh and where there would be less flies around. With horses there are always flies but at least we didn't have the dreaded horse flies this time.

We went on a location hunt to find all the places that I could use for Olivia's and Annie's photoshoot. Olivia also asked if she could have some ridden ones of her and Annie in the menage and of course that was a YES. Olivia and Annie had been working on their dressage at Novice level so the idea was to incorporate the session with some schooling.

Olivia's outfit of choice for her photoshoot was Newbury White Base Layer with lace from Holland Cooper's equestrian range with light blue denim jeans finished off with long black riding boots.

This yard had so many places for photographs. I was in my element just wandering around. It was brilliant and I never knew it existed. My favourite had to be in front of this riveted metal barn front along with a field full of white flowers. As the sun was beginning to set, we tried a little off camera flash so that the sky detail and colours could be seen as well as keep Olivia and Annie lit and therefore not getting lost in the evening shadows.
